distributor problem with 400

i just installed a performer rpm intake on this 400 engine. now im having a problem with the distributor. it wont drop completely in, its about one sixteenth of an inch from being completely in. the reason is because the distributor housing is hitting the intake.its a point ignition and where the clips for the cap are mounted on the base of the distributor is where its hitting. has anyone else had this problem? the intake is mounted flush to the heads and block{no gaps}.

any ideas how to fix this? thanks for all replies in advance....

You could turn the distibutor. If you turned it to the exact place where the points block hits the dist cam on another lobe, lets say you had to rotate it 2 lobes to get the clearance you need, then rewire the cap 2 holes over in the direction you move the dist, and retime it.

Pull the distributor and move the shaft a tooth or two.
