I have a '00 F-150 5.4l 4X4 and it seems that only the right rear wheel is turning when I accelerate. Just a little bump on the pedal and the tire breaks loose. In the rain it is difficult to go around corners without the rearend washing out on me. My question is there an aftermarket product out there that will provide power to both wheels? I remember reading something about a simple bolt in that acted like a posi, does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? The Axel code is: S918F 355 975 9M07
From your tag info, John, you have a 3.55 geared, 9.75 inch open rear end. The door code should be a 19. If it was a limited slip it would have an H9 code. The letter before the number is what designates the limited slip, not a "9." An "L" between the 3 and 55 in your tag info would also indicate a factory installed limited slip unit.
Many manufacturers make limited slip/ locker upgrades, but they are more than a simple bolt on. Try an internet search under Ford 9.75 locker, and you'll get a few hits. Hopefully this will get you started.
