Does anybody have any tips for removing the center console in at 2000 X? I've ordered a center seat which should be here in a few days. I don't imagine it's too complicated, but I've found that the jobs which should be the easiest sometimes turn out to be the longest due to some hidden bolt or something. . . Thanks.
There are bolts in the front cubby hole under the plastic mat along with bolts inside the console under the mat. If you have a CD changer in there, you will also have to unbolt that and mess with unplugging the wires. Pretty easy to take out overall.
Might as well take off the armrests and break out the Sawz-all too.
That center seat won't go up with the armrests. There are metal stops that are on the seat when you remove the armrests. Those will have to be cut off.
I looked into getting the 20% seat from the dealer, but no go. I went to several dealers and all had the same answer: Unless it came with the 40/20/40 split, they won't touch it as the captain's seats don't have the same frame mounts, etc.
i changed out my center console in a 04 f250. there were four bolts in the bottom of the console then it just lifted out. i got the seat off of an ebay auction. It's probably the same seat as well it bolts into the floor pan using the same type bolts that hold the front seats in. You need two to hold the seat in in the back bolt holes should already be in the floor pan. Took no time at all, just cutting off the stops on the arm rests was a bit annoying. Didn't do this but you might want to drill through the center of the stops just in case you wan to go original again this way you could tap them then bolt the stops back on.
I guess I should have asked where are folks finding these 20% seat/consoles? I've looked on Ebay.... I'd like one to put in my Excursion in medium gray cloth, please
on mine it included the seatbelt. If you live near places that manufacture ambulances and such you may be able to get one from them. The place over by me use to just throw the seat out!
