Center Console Door Rattle

Anyone else have a rattle of the latch on their center console door? For the last few weeks I've had the rattle I thought was the cup holders but, today I found the culprit. Its the latch hook, the part that locks into the center console. Its somewhat loose. Every time it rattles and my wife is in the car she gives me that look. You know, that look that says "You never should have bought this $60K truck that takes $4 gas. What were you thinking?" I hate that look.

Anyone know how to open the latch cover? I don't see any screws and I really don't want to experiement on a new truck. I have to take it to the dealer to fix the reverse camera but I haven't had much luck with Ford dealers addressing rattles.

My center console was rattling quite a bit also. Come to find out the rubber bumpers the console sits on was missing. "Notice to the right of the latch in your pic what im talking about." You Might wanna check the other side. I didnt wanna bring it in for something that small. Ended up putting a piece of felt on the underside of the lid for now, no more rattle... U can count on me asking Ford for a new one at a later date tho. Good luck!

Yup, all the bumpers are there. I removed one hoping to find a screw, no such luck. Need to find some way to tighten up that latch.

As a temporary fix you may want to add a wrap or 2 of electrical tape to the latching end

Wrap it opposite of how the latch goes down

Should take up some of the slop and deaden it while buying time to fix it permanent

Mine did it since i bought it. Very simple fix. I used athletic tape and wrapped a small piece around itself a couple times to make a 1/4in lump. I stuck it in along where the front of the center consol door meets the front of the console. It hasn't made a sound since. In fact I did it a while ago and totally forgot it made any sound till I read this post!
