Washed the truck today and on the right rear qtr I noticed what I thought were water spots.
Turns out to be a bubble or a blister that raised the paint. They are just infront of the rear light and below the top of the bed.
The paint is not broken and they appear to be perfectly round about the size of a pencil eraser.
To make matters more interesting, they were not there last week.
I have a bed liner and I know nothing hit it from the inside.
I also have the grease smear on the inside of the front driver's window and was planning to take it it for service. I will add this paint thing to the issues.
Question....would this paint/rust/blister be covered by warranty?
PS: Bought the truck last Sept. XLT/5.4/3.55/ and other goodies. 13k and have good things to say. Runs like a dream, no shake, shimmy, vibration. Tow a 5000lb boat and it seems to run better.
Yes, they'll cover it. Mine will going back today for the same thing. This is the second time it's been in the shop for the same exact problem, in the same exact place. They painted my bed last time, and the problem came back, plus now I have little air bubbles all over the paint.
If they'd buy it back, I'd let em' have it. A $30,000 truck shouldn't have paint problems!!!
Well, I now know what the problem is, someone missed a weld. There's a rubber mat behind the panel, which deadens the noise. Between the panel and the mat is an unwelded seam. When it rains, water gets trapped between the two. I complained to the owner of the body shop that painted it the first time, and the truck will be painted by a different shop.
