Quit driving my truck about 3 weeks ago when a friend told me my brake lights weren't working. (Been driving my brand new mustang since) I finally got around to working on it today and this is what I found.
The brake switch is good. Tested it with a meter and got continuity when my daughter pushed the brake pedal.
Went around to the back of the truck and had her push the brakes again. Still no light. At this point I thought I'd check a few other lights so I had her turn on the right signal. The turn signal worked but this created a new problem. The radio shut off! Now this is something new as truck has had a radio since I bought it about 3 years ago. I put a new cd player in it a year ago with no problems. Oh yeah, the left signal does not shut off the radio!
And I know it had brake lights because I check them regularly.
So I disconnect the radio and guess what? Yep, brake lights work.
For now I am going to drive it without a radio, but anyone have a clue what happened?
