i have a 1979 f150 with a 302. i was coming home and i just put 10$ in gas in and while i was driving the egine started dieng like it was out of gas i looked at teh gauge and it was half full so i pulled over and it was dead. i started it and reved it and drove like a block and it died so i push it into a parking lot. messed with it for a little bit and only can get to run and higher rpm if i feather it. but when i let of it sputters and dies. it was dark and cold so i walked home and ill get it tommarow to bring it home but do any of you have any idea what could be the cause. thanks for any help
well i suspect its a carb problem because i went back with some carb cleaner sprayed the carb a few times finally got it to run and got it home. but i did also play with the ignition module (unpluged it plug it back in and played with the wires) but i dout that was the cause. im going to rebuild the car and see hope this doesnt happen again
it cant be the pump cuz when a mechanical pump goes it goes it doesnt realy go and come back and go again. i got it to run and going to work last night it started it again and coming home from work this morning it was working. it could be somthin in the tank, it could be the filter and the vaccum is good. im going to try rebuilding hte car since that costs like 15 bucks and put a new filter on it while im at it.
