Battery cable (neg) replacement

My battery cable (Neg) is corroded on my Expedition and I need to
replace it. I took a look at the cable and it splits into two directions.
one connection goes to a bolt on the firewall and the other connection
seems to go down into a cable wrap toward the bottom of the engine.
Where does this go? the starter? Has anyone replaced this cable
before? Any help?

jim..

Your neg cable does split and actually grounds in three places with one of the grounds a continuation of an initial ground.

If the corrosion has traveled up into the cable, then replacement is the best way to go.
