What does the AUX button do?

Ok, I'm confused.... I read the owners manual and can't figure out what the AUX button does on my radio. I had hoped that there was some sort of input for my mp3 player, but it seems that I'm out of luck. Anyone know what that button is supposed to do or could be used for? I have a 2004 Lariat with the 6-disc and the audiophile package.

Thanks,

JJ

Runs the DVD player if you have it installed

Vader's right... but you can't use anything else BUT the factory DVD player. This has been discussed several times here. Someone was supposedly working on a adapter so you could plug in your mp3 player or whatever you wanted but haven't heard anything since then. I too wanted to plug in my MP3 player, so I just swapped out the stereo.

Yes, but the factory DVD player has composite inputs, so if you have this setup you can run any audio device via the DVD player and the AUX button.

Cool... Thanks for the info. I have a good friend that hooked me up with an adapter that allowed me to hook up my mp3 through my 6-disc port in my BMW. I'll check with him to see what he can come up with. Do you guys know where the input is for the DVD?

The DVD input is on the back of the radio/changer. You have to remove the plastic moulding that surrounds the radio and AC controls. Start prying about 1" down from the top on each side with a dinner knife. It's stubborn but it will come off. Remove 4 screws that secure the radio. The connector is a rectangular one with a dozen of so pins.

Hmmm....I don't know what I was thinking. Just looked at my DVD unit and there aren't any inputs. I think I got it confused with the VCR in the Pathfinder.
