Rear Spring mount rusting away!
Squeek squeek goes my 95 F150 XLT. The rear pivot pin bracket or what ever its called rusted so bad that it bent up and now rubs the end of the spring to the underside of the truck box. Has this happened to anyone else? I went to the local dealer they said that a new part had to be welded on to the frame and they didn't have hot enough welding gear to do it - so pitiful. 
If I could get the part online. The local spring shop should be able to torch it on. Whadiya tink?

Yes, this is a common problem. The parts are available from the stealership, or elsewhere (I don't know about that). I've done these before. I did it by heating up the rivet, then chiselling off the rivet head with an air chisel while it was glowing. THe hardest part is getting out the bolt that goes through the spring eye.

It's called a leaf spring hanger and you can buy then online for 20 bucks at Michigan Truck Springs. www.truckspring.com You'll have to chisel the heads off the rivets or use an angle grinder to cut them, then use grade 8 bolts to fasten the new ones to the frame.
