Hey, maybe you can help me. I've got an old '83 Ranger pickup. It has a V6 and automatic. I want to put a newer engine and automatic in it. I realize I'll have to go with the newer computer, etc. But, how new can I go without having to change engine mounts, etc. I want a easy bolt in installation.
thanks,
David Smith

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 07-Dec-02 AT 11:22 AM (EST)]I would tend to agree with WXboy. It occurs to me, after having owned, and/or repaired, and/or read up on, most makes of vehicles, that no one is perfect. They all have their quirks. But I wouldn't trade my '85 Ranger for ANY other truck. The brakes in this thing are among the best I've ever experienced, it gets great traction in foul weather (2WD), handles great, easy to work on, KEEPS GOING NO MATTER WHAT, etc, etc.
>i have owned four rangers. never a problem. my 98 has
>125,000 and i still get about twenty four mph.
>i have seen about five others that some people have really
>abused them and they still go on and on and on.
>i say to those people......B.S
I'm on my third, a 2003. Had a 96 and a 98.
Neither ever had any warranty repairs, just normal maintenance.
