Actually I am trying to find some stock wheels, cheap, but for now I have these chrome 97 f150 wheels, someone mounted the tires with the whitewalls out, looks bad.. Anyone have a way to black out the whitewalls? I seem to remember a product..
On a related note, anyone have a set of stock wheels they want hauled away in Western Oregon?
You can use tire black or tire dressing, we used this stuff in the truck body shop to dress up tires on the beat up trucks we bondoed up and painted to resale. It's a watery black paint that soaks into the rubber, nothing like Armorall,. You should be able to buy it at NAPA or any place that sells autobody supplies. It doesn't last long, just long enough to get a potential buyers attention. You would be better off taking the wheels down to the local quickie tire place and having them flip the tire around for a few buck apiece.
Thanks, The tire places around here charge so much to mount tires I hate to spend the $ when I really want some new wheels, seems like used wheels should be about the same price as changing the old ones around! (if I can find them)
I wouldn't bother trying to cover the whitewall, just turn the tire around on the wheel. I recall buying tires in the past and was always asked if I wanted the whitewall out or in when I bought new tires.
I am just trying to find a temporary fix untill I find some cheap or free stock wheels in the area, I hate to spend money remounting when I am going to do it again when I find wheels. ( I am pretty broke...)
Check your local tire shops they'll probably have some stock rims laying around. Every tire shop I've worked in had a stockpile of wheels people didn't want after putting on aftermarket rims.
PR55, Ive used a spray can of flat black paint to black-out whitewalls. Most flat black spray paint has a little sheen to it that matches the black rubber well. Just be sure to get the tires real clean first. Good luck, Sam
