Anyone ever tried the whitewall tire paint?

I saw some "rubberized" paint on ebay tht can turn standard blackwall tires into whitewall with a couple of brush strokes.

I want the wide whitewall look on my truck but don't want to shell out the big bucks if I don't have to.

Anyone ever try that whitewall paint?

Does it last and look half-way decent?

Or is it, like many other short cuts, too good to be true?

No I've never tried that, but I had to laugh cause it brought back a memory. About 20 years ago there was a guy who had a station wagon and a truck don't recall make or model of either. Anyway, when I saw his station wagon he had just painted the tires.....the rims.....the rear windows.... back window both bumpers heck he painted the whole car with a roller and a brush using household paint. He then painted his truck the same way and glued, yes glued action figures, dinosaurs, models, and just about anything he could find to the hood. Now, I here the truck is still in town, but I have'nt seen it in many years. Now he used regular household paint probably lead based at that time.

So I don't see why not. Just kidding, didn't meen to highjack yor thread. Thanks for letting me re-live a memory from my past that had me laughing as much today as it did 20 years ago.

I made my wide whites with a belt sander. About an hour per tire. I'm satisfied (check my gallery pics.) Most thin white wall or white lettered tires have a wide white band just under the surface. Grind off the thin black top layer and viola! - cheap wide whites. WARNING - MIGHT NOT WORK WELL WITH ALL TIRES!!
If you want to know more, let me know.

Oh yeah, there used to be a guy that lived next to the intersection of two highways here that brush painted his car (mid-60's Buick), his lawn ornaments (inverted tire planters, etc), and his mobile-home, the same two colors. One year black/orange, the next green/yellow...every year two different colors - hideous! I saw his car up close once, must a been 10 layers of house paint on it.

Much discussion on the subject on some of the "Rat Rod" websites. General consensus is that it doesn`t work too well.
