thank you. maybe i misunderstand, but i did a search on the subject, found the appropriate thread (at least what i thought was the appropriate thread) and asked my question. yes, i have read both the documents you refer to, neither of which seem to answer my question. am i missing something here? thanks, gm.

More specifically, look at the second picture on this page:

You will see a date with the day month and year like 27 Mar 03. In smaller print will be the plant where the engine was made. In the referenced picture, the top white label rotated left is the one you need to see.

The location is the FICM which is on the driver side toward the back. It is hard to see. I need to stand on a step stool, lean in under the hood while craning my neck and using a flashlight.

My 04 is the same, no date on the yellow tag. My 03 had the date on it.

okay, i was just being lazy and trying to get it off the valve cover. i can't seem to read the ficm label so i will have to be a little more aggressive to get to it. thanks,
