I have a red 2001 Ranger SC 2WD 3.0 I bought used. Under the rear ford emblem is a decal with a road and a leaf. Around 2 inches square or so. I have seen it on 4 other red rangers. What does it mean?
That means you have a flex fuel engine. I'm not sure about the specifics so don't quote me on anything I say about this...but I think that means you can burn fuel that has a much higher amount of ethanol (or some form of alcohol) than standard.

As noted, you have a "flex-fuel" engine in your Ranger. That means it can run on regular gasoline, and also on a primary ethanol blend (up to 85%). The fuel pump, fuel inejctors and fuel lines are a different on your truck as opposed to a non-FFV truck, but they look and function similalry. Your truck is also equipped with a flex-fuel sensor which measures the content of ethanol in the fuel and allows the PCM to make adjustments accordingly.
