i have a 98 f150 4x4 with 4.6l motor in the past two month ive spent well over two thousand with ford on repairs. monday, i get in, i crank it up, back out of the drivway, and it dies. i take it to all american ford. first they call me and say that a sensor on the crank case is not responding- parts and labor $476.00 now they call and say half of the pc is fried. i need to buy another. they want $320 i half to fix it so i guess what i want to know is before i buy anther oem computer is there a better higher performance aftermarket pc for my truck or do i just get another oem one? and then buy a chip? i would just assume spend 400 on a better pc then give ford another 320.
thanks in advance.

okay, first off there are some, but not a direct drop in ud need to replace your wiring harness. the company that makes it is F.A.S.T and its not cheap. like 1400$ or so. but ud never have to buy a custom chip cause you can hook up your pc to it and custom tune it to your delight, i realy want one but dont have the $$ at the time being. if your interested there website is fuelairspark.com
I meant a plug-in PCM, that much should have been clear. There are actually several universal computers out there but they require changing out the harness as well.
