JJFL99PSD, to disconnect the wastegate you need to pull the red tube with the black rubber fitting off of the wastegate ( drivers side of the turbo up under the hood ). Is it safe, well no. First with it disconnected you will make more then 25 psi of boost at which point the computer defuels the truck and throws the service engine soon light. Second Garrett recommends that the turbo be limited to 25 psi for longevity and because much above that and you are past the turbo's effiency range, meaning your not making anymore power just heat. How to get around this. Step one you will need to make a boost tube ( small brass or plastic fitting with a tiny hole drilled in it ). The tube is spliced into the red wastegate line with some vacuum hose and a few small clamps. This tube allows the line to bleed off some boost pressure going to the wastegate, so it opens later allowing more boost to be made without completely disconnecting the wastegate. You will need to play around with the size of the hole to get the boost you want ( mine makes 27 psi ). Step two you will need some way to fool the computer into not seeing the extra boost your making. This is done with a relief valve or regulator in the MAP sensor line. These can be bought off the internet, and will not allow the computer to see anymore then 24 psi. Two words of warning, first: get some gauges at least boost and pyro and if you have an auto then tranny temp also, you don't want to be guessing at this you need to know the numbers, second: without more fuel more boost isn't going to do you a lot of good. You could get a mild chip or programer, or run a 10K mod or any of it's variants to get the extra fuel you need to make the most of your extra boost.
