Ok, all I finally got the fuel problems fixed and everything runs perfect......Except.......ok frome the beginning: I finish the motor rebuild and get all the fuel situations smoothed out, now I go to test drive the truck around the block put the c6 into reverse and nothing so I give it some gas and it starts to back up painfully slowly. Same results when I put in drive, so I check the fluid...aha its low...easy fix right? Nada!!!!!! New fluid same results so I check fluid again and again its low(but no leaks) so I top it off again and still nothing. SO I drop the pan and only had about 2 gallons of fluid. I had some metal in the pan but nothing too bad, I changed the filter and adjusted the intermediate band added Lucas tranny treatment and top it off. It shifts better now but still weak in reverse or drive and badly loosing power uphill. According to Haynes: torque the adjustment bolt to 10 ftl lbs and back off 1 1/2 turns. I did this( like I said it shifts from 1-2 better, it looked like the tranny was set at 10 ft lbs but not backed off before I made the adjustment). I'm going to put a timing light the motor today to make sure the uphill problem isnt timing related. 1 st question: where is the fluid going( no leaks, and no major smoke coming from exhaust). 2nd- can anyone give me any ideas on tranny trouble(could it be torque convertor) or any other adjustments I can try? I usually dont do any tranny work I let others handle it but I want to try and I want to drive the truck VERY SOON.
Ya that's what I was thinking too. You need to top up the fluid then shift from park to reverse (let it sit for 2 seconds) then shift to neutral (let it sit for 2 seconds) then to drive (let it sit for 2 seconds) then back to neutral (let it sit for 2 seconds) then to reverse (let it sit for 2 seconds) then to park. Let it idle in park for about a minute then check your fluid. It will probably be down. Add some more then do the above procedure again. Good luck!
Ok thanks, but the 2nd question. Is there any adjustments that a novice like me can make on the low(internal) band for 1st and reverse or is the intermediate band(external) the only adjustment on the c6?
