4 Wheel Drive Problems!

I have not put my truck (04 FX4 CREW 5.4) in 4wd since last winter and today I wanted to drive on the beach for a little while. I turned the *** to 4HI and continued driving. It soon began to make a clunk, clunk, clunk sound. It came from under the truck and it sounded like somthing was hitting somthing else when the truck was in motion. I stoped and put it back in 2WD but the clunking continued. I tried going in reverse and that did make the clunking stop. I went on my way in 2WD with no noise at all. I made an appointment dor Thursday at my dealer. Has anyone else heard of anything like this happinging?

Yep I heard that when the forks in the transfer case went out. Everything was fine parked the truck at night backed out to go to work and the forks in the transfer case were shot. They replaced the transfer case on the truck and now its fine.
