Hi everyone, I am new to this site and need your help. I have a 1965 F100 with a 351W, C6 trans and power steering. Do any of you know of any headers that will fit my truck? I also might add that it has 302 BOSS heads on it. The Factory power steering came out of a 1966 F100. If any of you have any questions about your 65 or 66 I will be glad to help. I have been restoring this thing for about 3 months now, working on it almost every day. It is going to be very nice but have a bit to go.
Thanks for your help,
Jerry
Welcome Jerry, just completed 65 restoration and don't need to tell you it can be time consuming. Have a 302 in one of my 65's with the later ford power steering box. Put a set of hooker long tube header only because got them dirt cheap. Close fit on passenger side and although headers fit, ground little off cross member for additional clearance. Sounds like you have a Bendix power steering unit. It so may be close fit for long tubes. May want to look into shorties. Understand Sanderson makes quality hearders for 351w but not sure for Bendix steering box application. Suggest running a search see if there are any threads on the topic.
Post if you have any questions and updates. You will find FTE warehouse of info with helpful knowledgeable members.
Welcome to (FTE) ! 73-79 302 headers do work on a 65 with a 351w, but
with the 302 Boss heads you will need to look for some cleveland headers.
I think you may have to trim the small cross member that ( bolts in ) from
radius arm to radius arm .

Thanks for all your reply's. I have been there and done that on the 302 engine headers for a 1972 truck. Didn't work. I think they would have but the #4 LB exhaust tube stuck out too far on a set of Mr. Gasket headers and hits the power steering gear box. It stuck out about 3 to 4". It will have to be a short 90* turn on that cylinder. Not sure what brand gear box it is but it fits and looks much like the old stock arm strong unit. Just has the hydrolic works in it and that part sticks out towards the engine.
Anyone tried shorties for this application? Any suggestions on what year and make I should try?
I emailed JEGS about my needs 3 weeks ago but never got a reply.
Thanks again everyone!

Reason: Rewording
mabe some for a 351/400 m in a 73/79 2wd same bolt pattern as a c or boss just weld around the tubes and grind out the inside to open it up a bit for the 4v heads
Did not find header manufacturers very helpful. Found they were unwilling to commit to whether their headers met my application because 302 was not standard equipment, as well as the bendix p/s box. Don't think telling you anything new, but with the later ford truck application usually find they came with the Saginaw, or FoMoCo p/s gear box that are about same width as the standard manual box, but longer. The Bendix however, is same length as the standard box, but wider. The advantage of the bendix is that you do not have an issue with the length of the column with the upgrade. Downside, can be difficult locating set of headers that will make the close fit. Have seen others who have made the long tube fit the application with a dent here and there.
May try going to Sanderson web page and review their selection. It has been some time, but believe you can review the measurement from their selection of long tube and shorties and compare to your spec's. Understand they have quite a selection but can make them to your spec's, but not certain. If recall seemed reasonably priced. Would seem there would be other manufacturers who make them, perhaps more knowledgeable member has additional info.
