85 Bronco ign module
85 Bronco ign module
I have a 85 2.8 Bronco and the distributor module keeps failing for no reason. The wiring has never been tampered with and there are no after market products tied into the system. We have done every diagnostic possible...to no avail. We have bypassed the harness, etc...all to no avail. The module and distributor have been replaced and the problem still exists. The Ford dealer employees haven't a clue.
If any of you have a better idea please let me know.
Thanks,
George

Just a thought. When module was replaced, was dielectric grease used on back of it? If not, module will overheat and fail. Grease should also be used in connector to prevent moisture from corroding contacts. A friend's 87 failed after sitting in the rain for 2 days. Good luck. Don

Another item that will cause electrical problems in the dist are poor body grounds. If you have a bad body ground you will get feed back through the gauges and the ingnition causing premature failure. Check all ground conections and ensure they are good and clean.
