rear end ID tag

well i just got a 1984 F 150 4x4 4.9 6 cyl. 4 spd stick. i found the tag on the rear end. more confused now than ever. thought there would be only 2- 4 didget # boy was i wrong. got # all oner the place . this is what i can make out. its rusted up a bunch. here goes WOR C 3J08 also upside down from other #'s are 08 8S806A
is the code for the gear ratio on it ?

whats the axles code on the door jam? But i think you have 3.08's with limited slip

Yep, but one number is covered by the bolt.

The second line that starts with 08 - there's a three before that, so you have a 3.08. If there's an L before the 08, it's limited slip, if it's a space, it's open.

sticker on door jam dont say anything under AXLE ? trans A 18 , axle is blank last thing it says is BL make any sence???

Definatley 3.08 gears, only question is to wether it is LS or not.
As for not having an axle code on the door tag, my '00 F250 is like that too...

Some trucks were like that, annoys me cause i'm trying to find a dana 70 for my mudder.

thanks for all the help. thought ratio was high. can run 70-75 with no trouble engine not reving up much at all. kind of like to put in 3:73 or 4:10 in ot with 34 X 9.50 15" LST on it sound good? 90% road 10% off road. or less gearing this is a DD

4.10's would be about right, and easier to do as that ratio came in fords from the factory.
