I'm new to this forum, and to the ford scene. I have a real quick question? My brother has a mid 80's ford 1/2 ton stick truck and the rear end went out in it i got the tag numbers off it. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what type of rear end it is? 9" or whatever else ford makes.

those are the numbers i appreciate the help.
Thanks
As has been said it's a 3.08 ratio 8.8" rear. The pinion bearing went out on our '83 F-100 a little while back. It now has a 8.8" out of a '91 F-150 under it. just took $200 at the wrecking yard and a few hours of sweat equity.
To keep the same axle and ratio just go to the salvage yard and find a F-100 or F-150 with an axle code of "18" or "H8" on the door jamb sticker. The H8 code is for the limited slip model.
