My car is infested with spiders . It's only a month old and these little guys are about the size of a dime and brownish/translucent. I'm seeing one every two days on average, and I don't know where their coming from. Not sure where they're stashed in the car, nor do I know which spot I'm getting them from, I park in a lot of places. There was a similar thread a bit back and someone mentioned this stuff cynoff? (i think) What is it? Can I use it in the car? Any other methods?
I know the whole "spiders kill bugs" thing , but I'd rather have a can of raid crawl across my face than a spider. Besides, they freak me out, and I see them when I'm driving. The last thing I need is one crawling up my leg or on my neck on the highway, they literally take all of my attention off of the road. I'm posting because I had to pull over about an hour ago after seeing one in the backseat on my paperwork. They gotta go.
I don't know what they are, but I'd feel the same way about them. One time I left a pop-tart under the seat of my Bronco, and left it sit for about a week. I opened the truck, got in, and started driving. I was waiting at a red light, and noticed movement out of the corner of my eye. My eyes got bigger and bigger, and I realized the whole front seat was moving. It was covered with ants. Oh man, I about crapped my pants. I HATE bugs. I pulled over as soon as I could (I had to sit there and wait for the light to change!), jumped out, and started jumping up and down, brushing all over myself to get them off.
Then I had to get them out of the truck - I found out WD40 also kills ants, pretty much on contact. Yet ANOTHER use for everyone's favorite blue and yellow can!
Oh man... thanks for stirring up that memory.
Anyway, I'd get a bug bomb. Maybe at a hardware store, or local ag store.
That's what I was thinking, just remember, this is going to be in a car, a small car, that I need very often. At best the most downtime it will get is overnight. I don't want it to be a cross between being skeeved out by a spider, or being doped up by bug spray.
This was just after the carwash where they vacuumed and must have flushed one out (hopefully just the one)
1. Take a gallon of gasoline and apply liberally to the interior of the car.
2. Take a match and apply liberally to the gasoline.
3. The ensuing fire is guaranteed to kill all spiders
Of course, if you actually need the car in the future, you may want to use some sort of fogging insecticide. You will, afterward, need to wipe down the interior of the car to avoid getting it on you and your stuff and your clothing.
I don't know if this will work on spiders, but my ex-girlfriend's little punk brother's car was infested with lice (don't ask). A nurse suggested placing a pile of mothballs on a pie tray on the seat and leaving the car parked in the sun with the windows up for several days. The naptha gas will suffocate the bugs. It must have worked although I never went near his car to see.
Another thought is to get one of those plug in ultrasonic bug repellers and leave it running in your car overnight.
well when it gets cold out side just leave the window cracked over nigh, bugs will freeze to death
ive bug bombed a car, if u have carpet or upholstery that sokes stuff up easy, u may not want to do this, cuz when it fogs it will leave a residue or a liquid for u seats, dash etc to soke up
I've still got her...actually, she's getting a new set of heads from Jasper. Put a 75,000 miles warranteed engine in her about 60,000 miles ago I guess. Apparently, I was losing compression in 3 cylinders and somehow managed to melt 3 valves. I'm not totally sure how this happened, nor is the mechanic, but she's getting a new set of heads by Friday nonetheless. Gonna help out in the winter.
Regradless, the Bronco didn't have spiders, my Nissan does. I think I may pick up the cynoff, even though I don't have black widows, but I'm sure as heck not going to start.
