What was the highest output generator Ford made and installed before the change to alternators? Was there anything even close to an 80 amp one available? I want to put a 12V gen on my flathead and would like to power a number of electrical accesories.
You will never get a generator to put out as much power at idle as a alternator will. I know it's none of our business, but the one question that will run through everybody's mind is why not put an alternator on it? If you are putting lots of accessories on it, you must not be going for the original look for the vehicle anyway.
I haven't looked, but I bet speedwaymotors.com has a conversion for your flathead.
The major power issue I may have is an electric power
steering pump. I have not seen any decent looking ways to put a pulley pwr steer pump on a flathead, so an electric one would be out of sight somewhere. I have seen them and they require an 80 amp gen/alt. Will probably do the alternator after the various inputs I have recieved.
