There's a recall on the door thing, but Ford won't cover it. It will cost us over 1000 dollars to get it repaired. When you see that tiny crack outside, it means the inside has been eaten away. It's notorious, something to do with driving and the frame.
It's a mess. It's about low 30s here, which is still way too cold for me.
I have a question about weather though. Early in the morning when I start my truck it squeeks, I believe it is one of the rubber bands (don't know what they are called) but it goes away in a few minutes after warming up. When it rains, it doesn't go away until it quits raining and it drys up inside. However, it is to rain all week and yesterday it rained a lot. we went through a major puddle. This morning it isn't raining, but the whole 45 minutes I am in my truck it is squeeking a lot (fan belt, that's what's its called, right?). Is it time to replace, or is it just the rain? These are the times when I wish I lived close to my dad, or had a husband who knew a lot about trucks.
Would this be anywhere near the window? Mine looks like someone tried to take a screwdriver to it and it dug deep into the metal, this was before I bought it (at least I think it was).
Ok, I am starting to feel like chaning my mind about buying another Ford.
Thats what it is...Unfortunately. The crack in the door. Also, usually that squaeaking is the fan belt slipping. Your fan is run by a belt from the engine, and when its cold, it slips, and if you've ever worn shoes on a gym floor, and slip, you get a similar noise. Nothing to worry about. Also, the door thing- its going to cost about 1100 dollars now, since the Ford payment aid thing is gone now.
Overdrive is designed to save fuel by sacrificing power and torque. Its the standard 5th gear. Around town, on the highway, down the road, it will lower RPM's and save fuel. When you are towing you may not have the torque you need avalible at those lower RPM's and you will cause the transmission to downshift more often. It also puts more stress on the low power gears, causing them to wear out faster.
So, towing more than a ton, or whenever you are towing and the tranny tries to shift often, use the "overdrive off" button. When you are driving without any real load, definately leave the overdrive on.
