hey guy,
i leaking gas like a son of gun out of my 86 F150 302 Fuel injection w/ duel tanks.
I think it's the valve switch cause i replaced the charcole canister already and changed gas caps.
It's leaking out of my front tank gas cap, and my front tank I really do not use cause I think the fuel pump is bad in it.
anyone got any tips or suggestions, and if it is the switch, does anyone now how many ports theres on it.
I have never done this before so i'll need all the help I can get!
thanks
Check the rubber hose that runs between the filler neck and the gas cap. Mine was leaking around the front tank, and it turned out to be as simple as tightening the clamp on that rubber hose.
I've never had my selector valve leak, but I have had 2 to stop working. They aren't difficult to change. I used 3 sets of needle nose vice grips, small pieces of cardboard between the vice grips and fuel lines to keep from cutting them. (the first time I pulled the valve out with no clamps, lost 30 gallons of fuel).
After that, it's just 3 clamps, a screw and a wire.
P.S. I'm not sure how many ports are on the fuel injected. Mine is carbeurated.
