I have a 1996 f150 long box with dual gas tanks. My front fuel pump is out so i just always use the rear tank which works fine. I have a problem with gas leaking out of the front tank but it should be almost empty because I siphoned it out. When i go to open the cap on the front tank, gas starts gushing out. Does anyone know why?
Totally guessing here, but IF your tank switch was stuck, and IF you parked on an incline, couldn't it leave an open passageway for gas to flow into the front tank?
Common problem. When your front fuel pump goes out, your back pump will actually feed gas into your front tank. It happened to me, too.
My solution was to replace the front fuel pump (my rear tank leaked anyway). You might be able to delete your front tank or re-route your fuel lines to avoid the front tank somehow, but I wouldn't know how to do that..
