Slipping Out of 4WD

Well, I had suspected it might happen - the new truck slips out of 4WD. I finally used my 4WD this last weekend - I was off chukar hunting, and getting to some of the hunting spots required driving on some nice, steep, washboarded roads. In order to minimize the tire spinning and rear-end wandering, I locked the hubs and put the truck ('05 250 CC 6.0) in 4WD HI, and drove up the road. With all the jarring from the washboard, the truck kicked out of 4WD TWICE!

I purposely bought the manual 4WD lever because I didn't trust the 'push-button' method - I like to feel the positive engagement when I move the lever. It never felt real 'solid' to me though - I've alluded to that in previous posts. It seems to just go back into 4HI and 'perch' there, like it could easily drop out. Sure enough, a little jarring and it pops right back into 2WD, which could be a real problem if it happened at a particularly bad juncture...

Has anybody else had this problem, and if so, is there any solution?

Yes what 99f350 said bring it in, sounds like something needs adjusting, my 04' has manual transfer case and has never jumped out of 4HI.

Get it looked at, and I hope it's a simple fix,,,maybe crawl under there yourself and have someone move shifter, might see a solution.

I hate bringing my truck in,,seems things happen to it, when its not in your possesion,,I know from past experince,, I am so glad my 04' has not been back to the dealer for anything.

Good luck !,,,,,,,,,,,,Later,,,,,,,,,Mark
