I used to own a 94. it was the lazer tint red, boss 460 sound. nice interior. if you want something fast that ain't it though (if it's stock). still a real nice car,in my opinion. i think 94 was the last year for the 5.0 could be wrong though.
I just need to know your anual repair costs, just an average, or guess for each year. Also, I would like to know what kind of gas mileage you used to get? Mileage isnt that important, but I will need to know so I can budget for gas. Thanks
I've owned a 90 GT and now have a 91 GT. The 90 GT was a daily driver, it was very reliable. I can't really think of much I did to it other than preventative maintainence, so I'd say maybe $300 a year. It got 25mpg, that's with stock everything.
Now what might really get you is insurance, check that out if you're thinking of buying one.
i had an 87 GT, so i might be some help. i loved my car with all my heart, had to sell cause of speeding tickets and the fact that i was 17 and it was getting me into trouble. very fast machine in my opinion, would whoop any camaro of that age, all i had was the basic stuff like exhaust and little boltons.
the main differences in the 94 and 95, the last years of the 5.0 in the mustangs(horizontal taillight bars), is the intake manifold, the throttle body is curved so it fits in the new engine bay, and horsepower was down a little bit to 205 or 210 i cant remember.
on my 5.0 stang i got about 15 miles per gallon when i checked it two times in one year. kinda low but i really dogged that car and 95 mph was my common highway cruisin speed. if you dont have a lead foot like me you can get about 20 out of it im guessing. overall reliablility is pretty good even when you dog it, and even if you break something itll be relatively cheap to fix it.
i personally would save myself the money and find a good 87-93 LX coupe or hatchback, cooler looking in my opinion and easier to work on.
I have an 04 with a V8. I get about 19 city to 23 highway. I would say maintenance is pretty cheap since there are so many Mustangs out there. It is probably one of the most modified cars out there and they come with just basic features. No trip computer. No tire pressure sensors. No back up warning things, etc.
My 91 LX got 25 mpg on the highway. That was at 65-75 mph. Maintainance on the car was easy because the 5.0L was pretty straight forward and there was some room in the engine bay to work on them. It all depends how the car was treated since new. I lucked out and the car was well taken care of and documented when I bought it, My personal opinion would be to get at 94 or 95 GT. They are still quick cars and the build and ride quality is waaaayyyyy better than any 86-93 Mustang.
