ground wire

I have a ground wire that comes from the passenger side fender and connects to the hood thats broken.My question is what,s it,s purpose and do I need to reconnect it. Oh my truck is a 90 2.3 ranger 5spd.

All grounds are important. Reconnect it, or get another one and replace it if it is broken.

I haven't seen a need for it...but as Rockledge said all grounds are important. It might have something to do with grounding out static buildup.

Manufactures don't put things on vehicles unless they are needed. It may only cost a few cents, but on millions of vehicles it adds up. Always replace things that break/fall off even if you don't see the need for them.

The purpose is EMI RFI shielding for the electronics & yes it's important, get her fixed before some 18 wheeler beside you, with a kilowatt CB cooks your computer.
