dim brake lights

Brake lights are dim. Checked with meter. Only getting 8-9 volts to the brakelights. Tailights have 12V. Have 12V at brake light switch. Have tried tracing this but can't find where voltage loss would occur. Any suggetions.

Dirt or corrosion, is likely the culprit. Do ya have one of those combo battery brushes? Try running the cable end into the socket and giving it a few turns.

let us know

Also use the brighter bulb. Yours are probably still 1157. I can't remember the number 21??. They look the same just a bigger number.

DIsconnect the harness under the hood and see if you have 12v going out of the dash harness. If not, the cause might be the directional switch. Otherwise the brake connector under the hood or the wire from it is bad.

Check for a good ground at the light.

My vote would be the dirty, crusty, rusty light socket.
