Hey everyone my buddy told me I dont need to get a SWR thingy and check my antenna. He said that its already built into the CB. I think he is thinking about the SoundTracker thing for squelch. Its a Cobra 19WX SoundTracker
im pretty sure your buddy is mistaken. what are the lables on all the *****? do you have a switch that says "SWR" on it? if that radio is like the 19dx then it does not have a built in swr circuit.
No it doesnt have SWR. I have Volume, Squelch, Soundtracker, Channel, and Weather. I figured someone told him about the Soundtracker and he figured that was for SWR. How does the SWR hook up? I havent gotten one yet, so if this is a stupid question(because I will understand once I get one) then dont answer it, LOL. Thanks guys, and especially you Matt(I added to your reputation ), you've been a great help!!
i have a reputation? if its anything like when i was in high school then im in trouble!
check the thread titled "cb reception". but basically you buy a 2 foot jumper with the meter and connect the jumper to the radio, then to the meter then the meter to the antenna coax. everything is labled on the meter.
hey biggieou, sorry i didnt answer in time for you to bid, but its just as well you didnt. this mic is what is called a "power mic", meaning it has an audio amplifier built into it. i personally like to use them, but im not a big fan of cobra(mics), or radio shack. the price on that one wasnt too bad, but ive heard negative things about Wholesale cb radio. seems that the owners just got fined by the FCC for selling illegal merchandise. i wouldnt deal with them if i were you.
if you find a similar mic like that and the price is around $20.00, go for it. your best bet is to get one from the same manufacturer as your radio since the mic will already be wired for your radio. My favorite is the d104 m6b, $40.00 from copper and they'll wire it for your radio.
