Tailgate window problem

Just replaced my tailgate with one from a junkyard. At first I couldn't get window up at all, but bypassed the safety switch and all was good except, now it goes almost all the way down about 1" sticks up. I can't see anything hanging it up from going down. The gate still opens though. Anything I can look for?

I don't really know what to tell you...you can look for anything. Look for something blocking it. Get in there really nice with a flashlight...Try lubricating your window tracks with teflon spray.

If the tailgate opens then there is still something triggering the latch release bar at the bottom of the tailgate. It runs from the latch to the bottom with a bend at the bottom for the glass to hit it and release it. I have never taken mine apart but maybe there is a way to adjust the way the window sits in the tracks.

What year is your truck?
While the tailgates from the '78/'79 model and the 80-84 models are interchangeable, the glass is not.
Having the glass from an '84 in a '78, for example might well result in the type problem you have.

my truck is a 93 the gate and glass was out of an 89. I bought it complete. 50 bucks with no rust how culd I resist. Is it possible for that release latch is bypassed. I'll look @ it when I get home from work tonight. Its been raining like hell the last couple of days and haven't gotten a real close look.

I guess you could but it would be at the latch end of it. Unless you find a way to tie it in the down position to the bottom of the tailgate.
