First thing, GREAT SITE! Secondly, I'm trying to locate the oil pressure sensor on my 2001 Ranger XLT extened cab. It has a 3.0 V6. (VIN -U). Local dealership was no help. Oil gauge sticks when cold. Any info greatly appreciated.
check the drives side of the engine towards the bottom near where the oil pan bolts up..should just be a single wire connector comming off it..might be below the steering pump..in that area..either way it's on the lower portion of the block with a single wire comming out of it.
I never looked for it on a 4.0 and I don't have my manuals tonight but since the 4.0 is based on the 2.9 try the drivers side of the block about a third of the way back, looking from under the truck.
Is that on the back of the passenger side?It connects to an exhaust sensor too That oil sensor connected to O2 sensor on exhaust? Theres a connection on my oil pressure sensor that goes to the exhaust?
I Found It,I found It! Called Bro-In-Law,Said it was near bell housing right(passenger)side, below right cylinder head/bank!After 30years at various Ford dealerships,He oughtta know! Now he teaches Auto Tech at college! I'm gonna get him "Nice" Christmas present! Changed it out,but not a "Drop" of oil came out?I think someone mentioned hereabout testing the "old" one with VOM? I'll do a 50 mile drive tomorrow,to see if that fixes it! Or ,I gotta get that "New" gauge! Thanks EVERYONE!LONG WEEK of Posts&Threads!
P.S. It took me longer to get thatsnap connector off, then changing out the Sensor with a 3/8 ratchet&13/16" dep well socket,I think it was 13/16"?Butthat connector!!@#%^&**#@!
