also have seen an unmarked, RED/BURGANDY malibu, had the lights inside the thing and a small HP sticker on the doors, something you couldn't see froma long distance, that thing came whizzing by me one day and pulled one of my buddies up the road on the way to school last year, that sucked, he got a 75 in a 60, good thing i had just pulled onthe hwy doing about 55 when he came by me
Over here in Arkansas, state troopers use Camaros and mustangs along with the crown vics. The county i live in, the county officers use Jeep Cherokees and Chevy Z71's and the city cops use crown vics. Even the sheriff himself in my county drives a Z71. The county next to me uses Jeep Cherokees and Dodge Durangos as patrol vehicles. And some around here use the intrepeds as well, but ive only seen the detectives use them. So seeing a camaro with the LS6 (or is it LT6, whatever the bad boy motor is) driving around here with the trooper ribbon across the hood, or a Z71 ext. cab with blue light bar on top and stickers on the side is not uncommon here. Watch out for the durangos though, if its a city cop then some are unmarked, but the county officers are all marked.
here in nebraska the highway patrol/sheriff's are starting to use mustang cobras. the weigh boys are using f-250 they are a lot of explores for tthe city cops. if the 2 door cop car drivers have to arrest someone they call another officer with a crown vic to haul the criminal away
I've seen older Mustangs, probably 2000 to 2004 for the past several years around SoCal. Specifically along the I-15 to Vegas and US-395. The Mustangs are usually B&W. I've seen white Camaros with side markings for a few years too, but not as long as I've been seeing the Mustangs.
On city freeways, around L.A. and Orange counties, the usual Crown Vic is the staple. Most are B&W, although I've seen a few white ones with side markings here and there.
The CHP commercial enforcement truck is usually a Dodge full size with an old camper shell.
When I worked for Irvine PD a few years back, Volvo came by with a test car. It was kinda interesting to look at, but we didn't bite (I don't think any other department around us did either...) Irvine PD parking enforcement is down with Ford Rangers. Their commercial enforcement has a few F-350 DRWs.
I have seen LAPD Toyota 4Runners B&W's lately. I also saw an all black Humvee (not a Hummer, but a real Humvee) with Orange County Sheriff Department markings.
bmw gave m5s to south carolina when they opened the new plant there. all the cars are now just used to go to schools and other educational/show purposes.
Yeah, I got pulled over last year on my way back from Myrtle Beach. I was flying and just ran right up behind it and never knew it until he hit the lights. There was no way I would ever think of running from one of those z28's. Those things are just monsters!
FHP used 5.0 Mustangs years ago and they have and will use a wide variety of confiscated cars. I have seen Corvettes, Camaros, Nissan Z cars all painted up in the black and tan that FHP is famous for. Some with lightbars and some not. Seen some SUVs too, mostly GM products. The accident investigators use the Vics for the trunk space.
South Carolina uses Cameros with and without the light bars. Some marked cars don't have the light bars or the H P markings on the trunk or hood, they do have markings on the doors.
The unmarked are any color and no markings of any kind anywhere.
They use Crown Vics the same and also some Intrepeds but mostly the Intrepids are on the 2 lane or rural roads.
They use Mortorcycles on the interstates mostly around major cities.
The cities and counties use anything.
As for the BMW,s I read in the papers that the state was not allowed to take them for some pollitical reason ,wheather that was changed or not I don't know and havn't heard anything else about them.
RCMP in North Vancouver has a few Audi Quattro's. RCMP in Surrey and Langley has a couple of blinged out Civic's and Focus', with light bars and a bunch of other stuff.
I think VPD has a few Civic's and Focus' too.
I haven't seen an RCMP 5.0 in a long time, but I still see quite a few Camaro's.
Camaros
F150
Chevy Extended cab long bed (plain white)
Crown Vic
Impala
Suburban
Expedition
Mustang
Grand Am (honestly)
Corvette
harley's
Chevy Caprice
Dodge Intrepid.
Chevy Astro
Chevy 2500
Many of these are county or local. DPS usually stays with Cameros, Crown Vics & F150's.
They got rid of the Mustangs for the DPS several years ago citing the lack of control at high speeds (ie floating during pursuit). The Camaro was the replacement (with a vette engine I've heard)
