About two weeks ago, I programmed my 4.6 with the Superchips Microtuner with the High Performance tune. I had 93 octane gas in the tank and did not experience knocking, just much better performance
As time went on, my truck started to crank longer and longer before it started. At one point it would take two tries before it would start. My dealer said it was most likely the premium gas causing a "dieseling" condition. So, I brought the tune back down to 87-octane, filled the truck up with regular gas, and it started like it was brand new.
I still want the high performance tune, so should I just live with the hard start or is there something else I can do? If I do need to just live with it, will a hard start cause any damage to the starter and/or the actual engine?
My truck has taken a while to start since new, with both 87 and 93 octane fuels. My superchips unit hasnt affected this either way. Its the same crank time as new. Im probably going to ask my dealer about it, when it goes in next week for some woodtrim work.
