I was wondering why they say to use 91 octane fuel when using the Tow/performance and High performance settings? Is this just to gain top performance with the tune? I forgot I put the tow/performance tune on my truck while filling up with 87 octane and I didn't notice any ill effects like running lean (pinging/detonation) or fault codes, I ran about a half tank before I realized it...oop's. I have since switched back to the 87/economy tune just in case. I would like to go back to the Tow mode with 87 octane because I really liked the low end torque for around town. (alot of hills out here).
You notice any power difference when dropping back to the 87 tune? Only reason I ask is because the tune changes the shift points as well. So maybe you weren't on the throttle enough to see the power change. You're only seeing transmission changes.
I don't have a tuner, so I'm only throwing out ideas here.
There was a loss of power when I changed back to the 87 economy tune, and I want it back on the cheap gas. lol but I don't want to damage the engine either...
