well I don't know this for a good reason but, due to new goverment regs on emissions of gas and diesel powered vehicles, oil companies are putting in low sulfer units in their refineries to meet 06 requirements, and i know for sure they are not going to pay for the cost of these units themseves,so they are passing the buck on to us.
Here in NC they just came on the news and said the recent hurricanes are causing the prices to go up... Hmmm, next it will be sun spots or because it's nice out or ????. I wish all of the diesel users would band together and just stop buying for a week or so, I think that would at least let them know we are tired of this lame game.
what a scary thing , not drive my 6.0 for a few days!!! Not sure I could handle the that very well, just the thought of it and I want to go outside and touch her to make up for it. I feel bad, sooo bad
2.09 in Salt Lake City @ Super Wal-Mart (Mirastar) on 5400 West.
It also jumped from 1.87 to 2.09 last week. At home in Draper (South Salt Lake valley) it jumped from 2.03 to 2.15.
I also just bought my 250 in September, but had already read about the winter demand phenomenea and had prepped my wife for the rising prices during the winter.
We even just had the discussion that my truck was costing us more than the Jeep Wrangler I also have. But, I have been keeping a logbook and I know it is nearly the same fuel cost. We just drive the 250 more 'cuz we love it!
Anyone on this forum with a 6.0 in the Salt Lake Valley? This is my first diesel, I do all my maintenance but have never owned a diesel before and I am more than a little nervous about convincing the wife for $80 oil changes vs the $20 ones for my Jeep. Will keep reading all this valuable info. Thanks to everyone who posts!

LOL...its sad, these trucks are almost as good as a woman...
Ill fight to the end for my SD , argue to death about it being the best , love it like a wife , but I dont think I could leave it in the driveway for a day without hearing the pur(rattle) of it , nor could I not touch her in the most loving and usefull way the prices of fuel can sky rocket and Ill still have the need to "ride" my lovely SD
I spoke with a friend of mine that works for Exxon. He says that the multiple hurricanes in the gulf created a lot of damage on offshore rigs. Although they weren't directly in the path of the storm, there was damage from the swells. One lost the helopad and the boat moorings. Another was torn loose from the moorings and ripped up the pipeline and so on.
friday fuel was 1.95 a gallon three days later it at 2.02 a gallon. which is .13 higher then regular gas.
That's the part I don't get, Diesel is a byproduct of the gas process so why is it more than gas? The only reason I can figure is that they know that people have to buy diesel (for trucks) so they have a captive market.
here we go again the pricing futures show another .04 jump per gal. for a total of 2.06 a gal. and no increase for gas. what a wonderful week this is turning out to be.

Heating oil is diesel. Most of the Northeast uses diesel to heat homes and businesses. It happens every winter. Also we have damage to offshore rigs and pipelines. Lot's of construction going on around us and all those offroad earthmover and construction gear use diesel.
thats what i dont get 2.25 must be at a service station? what i pay for diesel for my company of forty trucks is rack price plus tax of course. is at 2.03 a gal. the service stations need to make .20 a gallon i dont think so.
