Well Im relatively new to my truck but ever since I got it down to school it has been giving me problems.
I installed a new battery, starter and alternator and now it REALLY doesnt want to start. The ground wire, battery to solenoid wire, solenoid to starter wire, AND the starter all get real hot when I go to crank it, so I know somethnigs wrong. Please help! thanx.
Have you measured the voltage when cranking, I would expect 10.5v or higher at the battery when cranking and pretty much the same at the starter terminals. Battery voltage should be higher that 12.6 when ign is off and truck has stood for 1/2hr or so
If the wire is getting really hot when you go to crank that means that there is more current running through that wire than it can handle, if it does this enough you will melt the coating off, short stuff out, and most likely have a car-b-que.
