2000 f-150 5.4 chip

I have a 2000 f-150 4x4 supercab. I have the 5.4 litre triton. I have a k&n filter system on it. I also have true dual exhaust. I want to put a chip in my truck to help with torque and power. Does anyone have an opinion. Price is not a huge concern. There is a lot of gas stations where I live that sells 94 octane gas, which is what I run now anyway as my truck runs much better on it than on 87. The only conern I have is the transmission. Does the chip help with better shifting or do I need a shift kit installed? I do a little bit of towing with my truck as well. but I like to drive it with now trailers and fast sometimes. cheers all the best BOB!!!

I don't have a clue about chips for this motor. Can anyone help with some information? what chip should I use, what kind of power torque increase can be expected? And do i need to do anything to the transmission to help with the increase power? thanks Bob

All the options are available for your model/year:

1. Diablo Delta two or three stage chip. Has a stock setting plus 1 or 2 power settings. This is the least expensive route, but has the fewest options. I recommend a 2 stage chip with stock and a 94 octane performance tune. Here: http://www.motorhaven.com/customer/p...tid=136&cat=37 -- I've programmed a ton of these.

2. Superchips Custom Tune chip. This is a 6 stage chip. Stock, 4 power settings (all custom tuned) and 1 kill-switch settings. I can program a wide variety of settings for just about any driving condition. Here: http://www.motorhaven.com/customer/p...cat=274&page=1

3. Superchips Microtuner. 3 power settings (87 octane, performance towing, performance no towing), plug-n-play, lets you change shift points and shift firmness. Has a basic diagnostic code reader. Here: http://www.motorhaven.com/customer/home.php?cat=169

4. Superchips Custom Tuner: 3 power settings that we custom program (just about anything you want), , plug-n-play, lets you change shift points and shift firmness. Has a basic diagnostic code reader. Lets you adjust air/fuel ratio and ignition timing. Here: http://www.motorhaven.com/customer/p...cat=274&page=1

5. Diablo Predator. Plug and play, several octane settings, adjust the shift points and shift firmness, upgradeable via web downloads, state of the art diagnostics tune, live data logging. This one is the cream of the crop for non-custom tuning from us (you can make you own custom changes if you want). Here: http://www.motorhaven.com/customer/home.php?cat=249

All will help with shifting. You don't need to make any changes to the transmission. Your best options for 94 octane are 1, 2, 4 and 5. Option 3 is programmed for 91 octane and doesn't take full advantage of 94. Sorry I didn't answer sooner... don't work the forums on the weekends.
