Can anyone please explain how you flush your Cooling System? You can buy Prestone Super Flush, can anyone tell me how this works. I brought some of this a few years ago and have not used it yet. In the 1999 Frod Ranger I just brought I throught I would flush the cooling system out with this stiff, but before I do I would like to know how it works.
Is Prestone the only one out there that makes this flush?
I don't think that this truck has ever been changed the way the Anti Freeze looks.
Just follow the directions on the bottle. If I remember correctly, drain the system, pour in the flush and top it off with water. Then turn on the engine (turn on the heater too) for about 10 min. Then drain the system and fill with water, turn on engine for another 10 min, and drain one more time. Finally fill system with proper mix of anti-freeze/water. As for how it works, I think it lowers the pH (makes it more acidic) of the liquid to help loosen the scale and junk in the system.

Should you do this every year or two to keep it clean ?
