Mickey Thompson Baja Belted
I'm looking for a new look on my 1994 Ford f-150 4X4. I want it bigger and larger.
Right now I really like the look of the Mickey Thompson Baja Belted Tire, I'm interested to go for a 35 X 17.5 -15LT or 36 x 14.50-15LT or 18/39-15LT-6 ply. Not sure what I want. The only thing I'm really sure, I want wider tires than the ones I got right now. I currentrly have 35 x 12.5 x15 on 10" wide rims. If the 36 x 14.50-15LT Mickey Thompson would look way wider than my current tires. I would go for those ones. specially that I could fit them on the same rims I got right now. So won't have to buy new rims.
What do you guy's think. Is the 36 x 14.50-15LT will look a lot wider than my 35 x 12.5 x15 tires? (consider i'm using the same 10" wide rims).
Or will it look a lot more wider if I consider going on 12" wide new rims?
Question # 2:
How do you guys like the Mickey Thompson Baja Belted tires? I'm gonna use them specially for ON ROAD driving. Car shows etc... Do they warn quick. Will they be tuff and long lasting if they only run ON ROAD?
Thanks
Daniel
The short answer to your first question(s) is yes, a given tire will look wider/shorter on a wider rim.
What I suggest is asking a dealer to mount a few of the tires you're considering so that you can compare them side by side, stand them in front of the wheel wells ect.. For what these tires cost, I think a dealer would bend over backwards to help you with those over-burdened pockets.

Hopefully, you've done your homework and beefed up your steering, suspension, and brakes. The more tire you put on, the more strain you put on these components.
Just a few generic things before Q#2:
These are Bias-Ply tires. They don't roll, track, or ride as well as radials. If there's not an "R" in the tire size, it's not a radial.
All street legal tires in the U.S. have D.O.T. ratings molded in the sidewall, including wear ratings. Learn whatever system you have in Canada. It's a valuable tool for picking a tire that fits your needs.
The Baja Belted is a good trail tire. In fact, I felt more secure driving them off road, than the 4 miles to work every morning.
If the pavement is wet, icy, or slushy, just touching the gas or brake can put you sideways.

If the look you're after is worth the performance trade-offs, consider the Baja Belted H.P. with it's directional tread pattern.
Watching the road through your side windows isn't fun!

Take care, Mike
I've checked the Baja Belted HP, I don't like the tread design. looks like a car tire.
I will only drive those tires during summer time, I drive small tires in winter time. It's safer and I can keep my chrome mag wheels and big tires longer.
Do you think that the Mickey Thompson Baja Belted would be safe to handle On Road during summer? Even driving in Rain condition?
I used to run a set of 31" Baja belted's on my VW baja bug (gotta have 'em)
and Hypoid is right about the wanting to go sideways in the rain. In the rain, that car would go sideways in second gear so fast. I used to scare a lot of other drivers, but I thought it was fun
Couldn't beat them for all out traction and the highway noise was pretty minimal.
Now I run the MT Baja Claws in the 31X11.50, and they have better lateral traction and I have yet to get stuck in the mud (although I've tried), and they look even more aggressive than the baja belteds.
