Went to the local stereo store to upgrade my mach audio speakers and was told
that most of the aftermarket speakers would not sound any better than the stock mach audio speakers. Is this true? or is the store just trying to sell the most expensive speakers. The truck is a 97`EB Expy.
i would disagree...I got rid of mine and replaced with Polk component system, that has surface mount tweeters, sounds so much clearer, its unbelieveable.
Also consider that your current speakers are almost eight years old. I think you would have a hard time selecting a set of medium price speakers that wouldn't offer an improvement in sound quality.
Just be aware of depth limitations when selecting speakers, particularly the rear set.
I would totally dissagree. I work at a local custom audio shop and I can tell you that even replacing my head unit made an incredible difference. The stock H.U. (headunit) has a built in active crossover system that is I.M.O. very horribly set. If you are looking for a sound increase I would recommend a new H.U., however some new speakers will make an amazing difference. The big question is what are you looking to spend and exactly what are you looking for in a stereo.
I agree with sk8...an new head unit makes a HUGE difference...the longest a stock radio has been in one of my cars was the ride home from the dealership.
Complete BS on the speakers not sounding better than factory..
I am running Focal 165KP's now in my front, Beautiful. I wound suggest a pair of Diamond Audio HEX 6.5's with a clean 2 channel amp. 100x2 @ 4 ohm.
Remember if you get new speakers, deaden the doors with Dynamat, Second Skin, Brown Bead, FatMat or Peel and Seal.
Other great doors are
MB Quarts
Focal
CDT-CL line or HD
Rainbow
