Everyday is a learning experience. I have resolved my misfire. Long story short
, what started out to be a simple 3 hour plug change ended up with $220 in associated costs. Started with Bosch, crappo, then because it was the weekend I went to NAPA and got the Autolite Double Platnuims. Misfire city, not as bad as the Bosch's. Remind you no CEL to help diagnose. So after checking all week long for vacumn leaks to no avail I put my pride in my back pocket and went to the local Ford dealership and got me 8 fresh Motorcraft plugs. After 1 hour and 15 minutes, whallaaaa, shes runnig smooth again.
On the bright side, I have 2 new coil packs, thought that might be the issue, 8 barely used Bosch Platnuims and 8 barely used Autolite Double Platnuims .
Moral of the story, stick with what the book says.
You know, it is interesting in the least because Motorcraft is on the sparkplug from factory but who's name is on the oxygen sensors from Fords factory? Bosch.... go figure.

Hmmmmm, I'm running Autolite AP104's on my 4.6L Expy and have been very happy with the performance. My Bosch plugs lasted all of 5,000 miles before they started misfiring.

Bosch makes great fuel injection systems and many other quality products. They just dont have the right combination of components for dependable spark plugs for these Fords for some reason. Champion has made spark plugs for eons, but when I worked for Nissan, Champion plugs simply would not run long in thier motors. You cant make everything work for everyone appearantly.

LOL! NGK Iridium IX spark plugs work very well in my Expy. I also found a set of Ford Racing Wires which are quite a bit thicker and handle a bigger spark. Of course, I haven't replaced the coil packs yet, so I don't have as hot of spark as I could have so that will be another project for a rainy day.
