thanks guys any answers to the bottom half of my question guys I took the chip out and ran the truck and it's spitting out blue smoke,I have never seen this before and when I rev it up in park it flutters a bit any ideas this is a new one truck only has 50,000 miles on it granted some hard miles but what could this be.
If you are concerned about comtaminants getting into the engine, you can plumb the breather hose into the exhaust system. I believe this has been discussed a little bit somewhere here. I did this on my previous brand "D", and it worked well. I have ordered a 4" exhaust for my PSD and will do the same thing. Very clean... everything that is evacuated from the engine is burned up as opposed to eventually dripping from the hose. It is fairly simple if you have some welding skills, just be sure to install a check valve designed for this at the exhaust pipe.
I wouldnt worry about contamants at all. If you look at the old international tractors, or any older tractors gas or diesel, they run like a foot of steel pipe out the valve cover or side of the block. Our 806 IH diesel has 9200 original hours on, thats ALOT for the original motor and it hasn,t missed a beat, even with only a foot of pipe for the ccv, from the factory.
Freddy, as far as your blue smoke problem goes, my buddy's 96 does it everytime he puts the stock tune back in with his Edge Evo. The truck seems to run fine and it has over 200,000 pulling around a full 11 foot utility body and a small crane. I don't think it is anything to worry about unless your truck is running poorly.
Sounds like a worthwhile and simple modification, (especially after SpringerDad explained it so well...) Is the CCV hose the cause of oily residue accumilating around the boot clamp on my intercooler pipe? It's happening on my driver's side and I've been searching this forum for a possible cause.

It was explained very well and is much appreciated, heck I got a two for one both of my questions answered you can't beat that I do wonder is there any power going to come with this ccv mod.
I have oil residue accumulating on both sides. What is the oval container behind the passenger battery? There was oil all over that also. It sounds like this is a neccesary mod to keep your engine decently clean.
