bumpside body mods and pictures

Im taking my 67 f100 lwb down to bare metal at the moment and iv'e been thinking about what else I can do and what else has been done already. Roll pan for the rear is my number 1 body modification so far. What have you done? Hood Scoops, Vents, tailgate mods, and so forth I just think it would get my imagination going along with many others

I've seen some people weld in the gap along the bump on the side of the bed to give it a cleaner line also around the bottom part of the hood shaved the door handles tailgate and drip rail I like the looks of these trucks low to the ground with a little bit of the top chopped they look amazing when done right imo

You might consider replacing the 1967 ONLY doors with 1968/72 doors as replacement parts will be easier to find.

The 1968/72 doors will bolt on as the hinges are the same as 1967, but not much else is. 1967: You push the inside door handles forward to lock the doors from the inside.

1968/72's have door lock *****. Besides the hinges, the weatherstrips, lock cylinders, outer door handles and division bars are the same, EVERYTHING else is different!

I actually like how the '67 f100 has those few key things that differ from the 68+. I love these trucks about 5" from the ground with like 22" wheels. I think it looks pretty good. Ive been thinking of filling in the bed line lately too. It's just a rust pocket and its kind of difficult to paint it. I already took all the dented and crushed trim off the truck and welded all the holes. So its looking pretty slick how shes going so far and im replacing the mirrors with peep mirrors too.

I like the67 inside door opener (old lift style) i hate the squeeze type opener mine has p.i.t.a. design

Somewhere in my vast collection of back issues is a silver 69 (or so) bumpside with boxed rockers and bed and really looks OEM like Ford should have done it. The owner visually lowered the truck without lowering the suspension any further.

I'll have to dig it sometime.

i would really like to see that silver. Id really like to lower my truck a bit, but it cost so much.

CLASSY and easier to open ! i replaced both inside handles cleaned and lubed the latch assembly and it's still a beiotch to squeeze

Did you try wd40 mike, its a miricle cure for everything. DO NOT DO YOUR HOOD HINGES. That was a horribe mistake and it took powder blast gun cleaner to get them to hold the hood up again. Also it might not be your latch, it could be wear it hooks into the door that needs a good scrubbing with a wire brush and some wd, just a suggestion. BTW just to go give everyone a good laugh. I went to mess with the plug wires the other day and I had a split in my coil wire. Shocked the crap out of me, I jumped back and knocked the back of my head on the hood latch. My head blead for over an hour. I guess the moral of the story is, dont do that while its running. lol

Let's see. Fender scoops, shaved wipers, shaved doors (the holes are still open), painted the verticals in the grill, peep mirrors.



Plate recess delete & blind mount for the front bumper.



'53/'54 F100 hood badges. Future plans call for a rolled pan, inside handle for the tailgate along with more work on the tailgate, raising the hump in the hood for a very subtle cowl induction look. I am also doing a dash swap for a smoothed out '57 Fairlane. I may chop the top slightly, tilt the nose & fill seams. I am not decided on those mods yet. The bumper will be getting built in driving lights.

very nice, ive always loved your truck. I also really like those vents, you mind sharing to us were you got them at and i also would like to know if i could use them on my truck. I live in missouri and im sure are trucks will never meet on the road. they just look so good. If you say no-way I wont use them, you have my word. thank you

Now that's funny David. My parents live in MO along with my brother in law & sister. We may actually run into each other some day. Anyway the fenders were built from scratch. I used masking tape & a razor blade to get the shape I wanted. I did the inner area of the cutout instead of the outline. Made it easier to see what the actual hole would be before cutting.

Once I had the shape as I wanted I took a small die grinder & cut it out. A whole lot of staring, scratching my head before I decided yep that's it. I then took cardboard & built the box for the opening. I ended up deciding on 2" deep at the front. I just angle cut to 0 at the rear. This was my pattern for the sheet metal. I have a sheet metal shop not far from me so I went there to buy the metal when I got to thinking why not have them bend them into shape as well. He said they weren't busy so a light bulb went off. They do this stuff everyday just not with cars so I asked if he wanted to cut my good fenders and weld the boxes in. I went to the hardware store & bought some aluminum screen. Cut pieces to put on the front to help keep from throwing rocks back onto the fenders. You could just as easily make them non functional. All in all I have less that $100 each in the fenders & that included buying the fenders.

An alternative if you don't want to be the same but similar concept. Don't get me wrong if you want to duplicate what I have done go right ahead. Anyway back to the alternative idea. Take the louvered section from the fender of a 1979 Lincoln Mark V & place it where I put my scoops/vents. I have done no measuring but it is a look I think that might work well.

1977/79 Mark V's use the same fenders: D7LY-16005-A right / D7LY-16006-A left. The louvered section is made as part of the fender.

Now all you have to do is find one a these cars in a wrecking yard to get the fenders from. Difficult to find even here in LA LA Land, where more of these cars were sold than anywhere else.

Louvered fenders will also be found on 1978/83 Mercury Zephyr's, the kissin' cousin Fox bodied cars to the Ford Fairmont.

I think you guys in CA might crush faster than those of us in the midwest. Might explain the shortage. Not saying they would be an easy find but we have cars from all the way back to the '60's in what 1 would consider a high turnover yard like Pik A Part & Pull A Part. I had forgot about the Zephyrs. They might be a bit smaller in size making a better looking mod. No idea I have never measured either in relation to the truck fender.

Shoot Bill I tracked down an original '57 Fairlane dash to use in my truck. Where there is a will there is a way. The tough one for me is locating a complete Toronado steering wheel from '66/'67. The 4 spoke wheel.
