I have a 71 f100 4x4 with power steering out of a 76 f100 4x4. It will not steer under high rpms. I was wondering if a pump out of a newer truck would bolt in? There has to be a conversion kit available or somebody has had to come up with a way to put a newer style power steering box in a 67-72 ford truck?
What sort of engine does the truck have? It's likely that the Saginaw style pump would be pretty easy to fit in there. Whatever engine it is, simply find a newer version in a late 70's van and you should have all of the brackets and what not you need. The hoses will likely need some tweaking.
Have you thought of just getting a rebuilt version of your pump? Have you bled your system well?
Hey where were you on Thursday? I brought the truck in for you to see. Ill see you Monday and we can talk about this power steering I have an FE 390 in the truck and I do not believe the Saginaw style came on these blocks. So the brackets might need to be fabbed unless someone makes them. Do you know of anyone who makes them? Just in case you still do not know who this is ... "T"
