power steering problem

I put power steering on my 71 f100 4x4. It is off a 76'. I havehad problems when I rev the engine or have the rpms up about 2500 that the steering locks up and I cannot steer. I bought a new gear box lines and pump and it still does it. I have had a few people tell me to upgrade to a pump off of a 79.I do not know if the bracket will work on my FE engine. Can anyone help me here?

I have a suggestion, that wont cost anything. Raise the front of the truck and rotate the steering wheel full lock to lock about 20 times. Lower it and take it out for a test drive. This should get any air out that could be trapped in.

Goodold71, could you post some pics in your gallery on how you mounted your p/s gerabox? I am having one heck of a time trying to come up with a system that will work and not cost big bucks. Thanks for your time.
