I'm new here so bare with me. I have a 1971 F100 it is 2wd with power steering and I need a steering column. I do not have the right steering column in the truck right now so it is not worth rebuilding. I purchased one out of a 4wd not knowing it would be longer. My main question is what year truck can I use a steering column out of? Thank you!
If I'm not mistaken(if so, someone will correct) I think 1967-72 are the same. But you will have to use a power steering column if you have P/S or manual steering column if not power steering as they are different lengths as well.
Thank you, that's kind of what I thought but some places I'll read that they put mid-70's columns in 67 wasn't sure if there was any modifying involved.
If you want to add in a Tilt column you can also adapt in a Dentside column. Research if you want via this Forum's search engine above.
I do have a 1971 F100,P/S,A/T,4x2 column but freight would be a killer from here in AZ. to IL. I have no clue of it's condition as I never drove the truck it came out of.
I have a 70 F350 with a 71 steering column. The PO had to put the 71 steering wheel on so you have room behind the wheel as the 70 wheel is a deeper dish wheel.
If you bave a bendix box the column is longer is you have a Ford box you can go up to 79 but the wiring is different and no nutruel safety switch 78-79 they moved them to the trans.1977 still have the switch on the column if you have a auto trans.
